Notes
(1) Definitions of membership types are in annex 1.
(2) The year runs from 1 Sep until 31 Aug. A General Assembly (GA) is organised at the start of each year.
(3) Transfer the fees by bank transfer: transfer costs are to be paid by the member. Please transfer net amount as per your invoice
The fees equivalent in SGD can be calculated using www.xe.com on the day of transfer.
(4) Existing AFFIA members (members before the GA) and NEW members joining before 31 Oct. are eligible for Early Bird Rate (-20% vs. standard fees)
For existing members, if the invoice is not paid by 31 Oct, a new invoice will be sent with Standard annual rate applied.
For NEW members joining before 31 Oct., if invoice is not paid within 60 days, a new invoice will be sent with Standard annual rate applied.
(5) A prorata by months is applied to the standard membership fees for NEW members joining only between 1 Nov and 28 Feb (i.e: if a member registers in January, he will pay the std fees multiplied by (8/12)).
If a new member registers less than 6 months from the next GA (from 1 Mar to 31 Aug), he will be entitled to pay 50% of standard rate fees.
(6) Standard rate is applied to all renewing members who have failed to pay their invoice before 31 Oct and to all new members joining after the 1 Nov.
(7) Representatives of companies that work in AFFIA related activities cannot register as individual members.
(8) Number of employees are calculated on a Full Time Equivalent (FTE) basis.

Definitions
A. Membership types & eligibility
Full Member: A “Company” active in the “Direct Insect Sector”
2) Associate Member: A “Researcher” active in the “Direct Insect Sector” located anywhere worldwide.
3) Observer Member:
a. A “Company” with headquarters anywhere worldwide, producer, supplier, customer and consumer (or their Associations), which is interested in
supporting AFFIA and participating to its network.
b. A Civil Society Organization (CSO), Administration or Institution, with headquarters anywhere worldwide, which is interested in supporting AFFIA
and participating to its network.
Sponsors: Sponsors can be companies, intitutions, or individuals who are AFFIA members.
Sponsorship amounts and benefits vary and be determined upon discussion on a case-by-case basis.

B. Lexicon
“Asia” or “Asian” refers to the geographical entity including the whole Asian continent in addition to
Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand
“Insect” means any insect species as reported by Dr. Jongema from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, 2015.
3. “Direct insect sector” means the emerging economic sector of “insects as food and as feed”. The sector comprises
activities and services that relate to the direct value chain that constitute this emerging sector.
Examples of such “Direct insect sector” activities and services are (but are not limited to):
– the production, reproduction, breeding, selection, processing, refining or conversion of insects for food, feed or other applications;
– the production, marketing and selling of food or feed products that utilise insects for food and feed as ingredient;
– the conversion or refining of food and feed insects into products that have commercial application outside the food and feed industry
4. “Company” means a legal entity or a natural person with demonstrated and on-going for-profit activities in the “Insect Sector”.
5. “Researcher” means a natural person involved in research activities for which funding has been allocated by any entity
or a natural person working in the context of a “research institution”
6. “Institution” means any institution, public or private, that conducts research
7. “Headquarters” means a principal central administrative office where primary headquarters- related functions and services are performed,
including financial, personnel, administrative, legal, planning and similar business functions.
